Introduction

Darlington Islamic Academy presents an ‘Ālimiyyah course in the English language, which will run on site and online for males, and online for females. This ‘Ālimiyyah course project is being launched to cater for the Muslim community of Darlington, which will be provisioned and run under the JKN Institute and curriculum. The ‘Ālimiyyah course is designed to be covered over a period 6 years, splitting into 3 stages. The first stage will cover year 1-2, with the second covering year 3-4 and the final phase covering year 5-6.

Course Outline And Syllabus

Year 1-2 (Islamic Foundation Course):  The first stage is a 2-year course, which will cover the basics of Islam. Subjects of Qur’ān, Ḥadīth, Du’ā, Sīrah, Fiqh and Arabic literature will be covered.

Year 3-4 (Alimiyyah Foundation): The second 2 years will provide the students with the fundamentals of the majority of the sciences they require, to engage with advanced classical and academic texts. These 2 years focus mainly on students to be able to translate and understand Arabic texts and gain a holistic understanding of Qur’ān, Ḥadīth, Fiqh and theology.

Year 5-6 (Alimiyyah Advanced): The final 2 years of the ‘Ālimiyyah course will focus on advanced and complex Arabic texts and literature, covering the subjects of Qur’ān, Ḥadīth, Fiqh, Tafsīr etc., in detail.

Requirements

No prior knowledge is essential. However, applicants should at least be able to recognise and read the Arabic texts of the Qur’ān. Also, access to the internet and a device which can run the Zoom App is essential as some of the classes will be running online.

Uniform:

Males: Jubba/Qamis, Topi (Hat).

Females: Hijab/Burqa of appropriate colours.

Enrolment Procedures:

  • All new applicants must pay £50 admission fee when submitting the online application form.

  • Ensure all details are completed accurately when submitting the application form.

  • Application form and admission fee must be submitted online.

  • The applicant/guardian must ensure they keep up to date with termly fees. Details of the termly fees will be provided on the day of admission.

  • Each candidate will be assessed before enrolling in the course. This will determine your suitability for the course.

  • The final deadline of enrolment will be the 26th of September 2021. NO NEW ADMISSION WILL BE ACCEPTED THEREAFTER.

  • The termly fee and admission fee paid will be non-refundable.
